Zeitgeist 2011

The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is always a slow time for the tech industry, so I am going to use this opportunity to take some time off and outline what I’d like to accomplish in 2012. In addition, as much as you may love tech, it’s always wise to occasionally unplug to regain focus on what’s important to you.

Regular posts will resume January, 2nd, 2012. I look forward to an exciting new year and hope you have a safe holiday. Thank you for reading TechEdified.

A Pink Nightmare

It’s that time of the year again. Many of you will be subjected to strange, humiliating rituals and traditions that simultaneously engender a sense of joy and bewilderment. Regardless of your faith, or lack thereof, stay strong.

Remember, it could always be worse. Happy Holidays!!!

Sacrifice

Regardless of what country you are from or ideology you adhere to, a common ground can be found in honoring those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their beliefs and those they love. Today, please take a moment to reflect upon those who have passed and those who need their community’s support after returning home from service.

Holiday

In some parts of the world, today is observed as a National Holiday, and I’m in one of them. I’m taking the day off, so normal posts will resume Wednesday, October 12th.

If you can, get outside and try to enjoy the weather. After all, there is much more to life than tech. Have a good one and thank you for reading TechEdified.

Vacation

There will be no post today (even geeks need to take a day off). If you live in the U.S.A., have a great holiday, and if you don’t, have a great day anyway.

Back To Basics: Web Browser Settings

This is the first entry in a multi-part series. Part 2

Often, I serve as free tech support for my family. While I’m troubleshooting their issues, I cannot help but notice that although they have been using computers for most of their lives, they are only experiencing a subset of what their PCs can do because they’re using techniques that greatly impede the speed and efficiency of their computing experience.

One reason that many people who are considered technologically literate appear to be so fluent is because they have mastered simple aspects of interacting with their PCs. Once this initial source of friction is removed, you can begin to unleash your computing potential.

So, today I am publishing the first entry in a new series entitled Back To Basics, which focuses on fundamental aspects of computing that, once committed to memory, will greatly increase your ability to utilize your tech. Read more

Respite

My grandmother, Josephine Ciano, has passed away. I will be taking time off in order to grieve and spend time with my family during this difficult time. For all my readers, thank you for following TechEdified. Posts will resume on January 31st.

Change Coming To TechEdified

Recently, I have been re-evaluating the publication model for this site, and have decided that it would be beneficial to increase the frequency of my posts. I’ll be adopting a two-tiered approach, which I have described in the updated About section of this site. In short, there will be frequent, brief posts focusing on helpful tips/tricks that I have curated from the Web, and longer, comprehensive, less frequent posts consisting of original content that dig deep into substantive topics. Expect the new style to begin rolling out within the next few weeks. I hope you find the changes beneficial and, once implemented, would appreciate any feedback you have to offer.
