
Any online transaction (e.g., loading a web page) is not inherently secure. This means that any personal information that is transferred to and from your computing device is susceptible to being captured and read by a third party.
As many users know, one way to add a layer of security is to ensure that the site you are visiting has a secure (i.e., encrypted) connection, denoted by the https:// at the beginning of the site’s URL. Many popular sites now offer such a type of connection, but may not have it enabled, by default, putting an unnecessary burden on the user to check off the appropriate account setting.
