About

TechEdified

The Internet, World Wide Web (WWW) and personal computer have engendered an age of unparalleled communication, and have substantively changed the lives of millions of people worldwide. While computers, in general, have become easier to understand and utilize, the rapidly changing field of Information Technology (IT) can leave even the most tech-savvy dilettante perplexed. In addition, as more people become comfortable with living a digital lifestyle, deciphering how to efficiently and securely utilize technology will be of utmost importance.

I have created TechEdified to address these issues. I seek to make a place where everyday people of varying skill levels can come to learn how to harness the power of technology. My goals are twofold: (1) to curate and link to the most helpful, practical tips I can find, and (2) to create original, long-form content on substantive, technical topics that is presented in easily understood terms. Therefore, the content of this site will consist of both short, frequent posts and less frequent, comprehensive articles.

Professionals thrive, in part, by making a valuable set of information as opaque as possible to the layperson, hence, increasing the need for them to interpret it for you. Technology professionals are no exception. Yet, when one considers how technology has penetrated so many aspects of our lives, both personally and professionally, you have to ask, is this right? I don’t think it is. Whether we like it or not, the Virtual Revolution is here to stay, and I believe that all people are capable of, and would benefit from, having a better understanding of the technology they are surrounded by. If you don’t understand the tools you are using, then they are using you.

With TechEdified, I hope to do my small part in working towards this goal by sharing what I have learned and by engaging with an interested audience. I hope you find the site useful, and if there is something that interests you, leave a comment, or if you have a question, please feel free to contact me.

About Me

I have always had two great passions, science and technology. During the first part of my life, I devoted myself primarily to the former, specifically Psychological Science and the study of the mind/brain. I have an undergraduate (B.A.) and graduate degree (M.A.) in Experimental Psychology and have designed, conducted, analyzed and presented several cognitive and biopsychological experiments, usually focusing on the effect of emotional valence and stress on to-be-remembered material.

For the past few years, I have become increasingly interested in technology and have decided to explore my interest in this field. I have an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and am a CompTIA certified technician (A+, Network+, Security+). For me, learning is a lifelong process, and I am continuously working toward refining my skill set and furthering my education.
