Master Screen Brightness And Monitor Controls With iBrightness

Windows Vista, 7 : One of the more annoying aspects of using modern, computing devices is dealing with display issues. While energy saving profiles within the operating system adjust screen brightness and turn the display on/off depending on certain conditions, such as the amount of ambient light or your computer’s power source, these automatic controls do not always match your use case requirements.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, an application called iBrightness can help you regain control over your PC’s display.

iBrightness is an application that gives you a unified interface to manipulate screen brightness, turn off the display, and activate your screensaver. After installation, the app will silently run in the system tray. Right-clicking it gives you access to its menu, which contains iBrightness (changes the brightness level), Turn Off Monitor, Screen Saver, Change Screen Saver and Auto Start options.

To adjust the screen brightness, select the system tray icon and select iBrightness. Move the slider right or left to increase or decrease, respectively, the screen brightness.

Other options under the app’s menu (e.g., Turn Off Monitor, Screen Saver) are self-explanatory, while Auto Start can be selected if you want the application to run on Windows start up.
